The Colca Valley
is a stunning, colorful Andean valley with pre-Inca roots, and towns founded in Spanish colonial times, still inhabited by people of the Collagua and the Cabana cultures. The local people maintain their ancestral traditions and continue to cultivate the stepped terraces.

After we explored the stunning Colca Valley we relaxed at the beautiful Colca Lodge. It’s a luxury lodge but we had a great deal for a 3-course meal with the entrance for the hot springs. What a treat!

So glad this woman joined us at a lunch break. She is one of many special encounters and it was such a pleasure to spend some time with her. I can still hear her laughter 🙂
Ivan showing her our guide & map. She was fascinated….maybe she never got to see these travel books?
studying our map
she looked up and said “Cusco” is just behind this hill , then looked at the map and was confused. She knew where to go but couldn’t figure out the map…. she clearly enjoyed it though.
